CRRU outboard motor appeal
Finally, after six long and dutiful years of service and over 1,000 hours on the clock, Orca II's trusted outboard motor eventually gave-up-the-ghost in September last year. She was subsequently transported to an Evinrude boat mechanic in Edinburgh at the end of the season for a full diagnosis. This sadly revealed extensive water-damage to the engines fuel injectors, the replacement cost of which significantly outweighed the value of the engine itself.
Consequently, we now find ourselves in URGENT need of funding for a replacement E-TEC engine at a purchase cost of almost £8,000. Unfortunately, equipment such as engines and vehicles is typically low on the list of funding priorities for most grant awarding bodies, even though it may be essential to our whale and dolphin research and rescue efforts. Therefore we are desperately trying to scrabble together donations, pledges and fundraisers to help us raise these funds before the research season recommences again in May.
If you can help us, even with the smallest of donations, please go to: http://www.justgiving.com/outboardmotorappeal (Just Giving add an additional 28% to your contribution if you are a UK tax-payer). Alternatively, cheques or postal orders can be sent to: CRRU Outboard Appeal, Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit, PO Box 11307, Banff AB45 3WB, Scotland UK, but please remember to include a completed gift aid form too (download here).
As always, we thank you for your support and wish you all best wishes
The CRRU team
